Boise, ID, is a city located in the U.S. state of Idaho. It is the most populous city in Idaho and the third most populous city in the Pacific Northwest region after Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR. Boise is the principal city of the Boise City-Nampa metropolitan area. As of 2016, the population of Boise was estimated to be 227,957, making it the 99th largest city in the United States.
Boise is located in southwestern Idaho, about 41 miles (66 km) east of the Oregon border and 110 miles (177 km) north of the Nevada border. The city lies on the Boise River in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 2,704 feet (824 m). Boise’s downtown is located about a half-mile (800 m) from the river’s edge.
