Reno, NV, is a city located in the state of Nevada in the United States. It is located in the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area and is the second largest city in that area. Reno is known for its casinos and its proximity to Lake Tahoe. It is also the birthplace of the game of craps.
Reno was founded in 1868 and was named after Jesse L. Reno, a Union general in the American Civil War. The city was originally built around the Truckee Meadows, which were a series of marshes that served as a watering hole for local wildlife.
